Your Visit

Before Your Appointment:

Once you book your treatment, you’ll receive an intake form via email that should be completed before our session. To prepare, it's best to have a light meal or snack beforehand and come well-hydrated. Please avoid caffeine and alcohol before your appointment. If you plan to exercise on the day of your treatment, try to do so in the morning, prior to your session. For your comfort, wear loose, relaxed clothing. If that's not possible, we'll use draping techniques to ensure your comfort.

During Your Session:

During our first session I will interview you about your health concerns and overall health. We'll discuss your treatment goals. I may ask about lifestyle habits, sleep patterns, emotional state, digestive health, and more. In Chinese medicine, we are looking at the larger picture of your health and how different aspects relate. I may use diagnostic procedures like checking your pulses and tongue to get an idea of what is happening internally. Based on our conversation and these assessments, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan. This plan may involve acupuncture, cupping, moxibustion, dietary changes, and lifestyle adjustments to support your healing.

Afterward, I’ll perform the acupuncture treatment, and you’ll relax for about 30 minutes while the needles are in place. Most people find this time very relaxing and will often sleep during this time.Follow-up sessions will include a brief check-in to discuss any changes since our last visit, followed by an acupuncture treatment

After Your Session

Most of the time people feel an alleviation of their symptoms, a feeling of wellbeing and a natural high after treatment for a few hours or days.Occasionally people feel a worsening of their symptoms after treatment within the first 48 hours.  Not to worry, this is part of the healing process and generally passes within a day or two. This type of reaction generally happens after the first treatment and passes as the patient continues with treatments.

I suggest scheduling some time for yourself afterward to fully integrate the treatment. This will help extend the deep relaxation you may experience after the session. Be sure to drink plenty of room temperature or warm fluids, listen to your body and rest if you feel tired. Please avoid mentally stimulating activities to maintain the calming effects of the treatment.
